The Dog

0
It seems like it was eons ago that we were searching for a new little furry addition to our home. Brady and I both adore dogs and I've wanted one ever since I had to give up my Golden Retrievers a few years ago due to circumstances beyond my control. We both like big dogs but the fact that we lived in an apartment lead us to look for something smaller. We settled on a Miniature Dachshund. I searched for breeders, trying to find the best match for our family. One night I was in the process of figuring out how to get an adorable little black boy puppy down to us from Prince Albert when Brady came home from a
co-worker's house (where he was only supposed to be getting a couple of dressers) and begged me to come see the puppies he had in his barn. So I went and I fell in love with one of the little babies. I canceled the adoption of that Dachshund puppy and the next day we had a little tiny black and white fluff ball named Presley.

Since that odd night we have become very fond of our not-so-little ball of black and white fur. Presley is an absolute joy; when she's behaving. She's an incredibly intelligent dog, which means that she is only selectively obedient- even though she often knows what she's supposed to do, sometimes she gives us that teenager "make me" look before ignoring us completely. That being said, she usually listens and in reality, she's a pretty amazing dog. She's also lightening quick, which is pretty amazing to watch on the back roads of flat Saskatchewan where she kicks up her heels and runs with the wind (of which there is plenty to keep her happy)

I've got a whole set of photos dedicated to her at our flickr account HERE!

Venus Fly Traps

1
These are our venus fly traps. They were something of pets before we adopted Presley, seeing as how they eat flies, we figured they were more than just 'plants'.
I had bought Brady a tiny trap when we were dating and it flourished in his dorm room; feasting on the many flies that inhabited the place and reveling in the sunshine of his windowsill. It died on the way back home this past summer, however. So when we found that Superstore was carrying them again, we picked up the three most healthy plants- at a discount, too!- and hurried them home to nurture them. One plant didn't make it but we still have two left They are only small and the traps, right now anyway, are only about the size of a pinkie fingernail.
We've got a couple more photos of them at our flickr account if you want to check them out.
